Navigating Your Story With The Tarot Archetypes
Spiritual Teachers- The Hierophant
When the student is ready, the teacher appears. In this episode, Nicole and Rootz discuss The Hierophant and how his archetype plays out in our journey here on earth. They share personal stories about the wisdom they have attained from their spirit guides and spiritual teachers. They also discuss how the hierophant can be triggering for some and what to do if a tarot card is triggering you.
Hi, and welcome back to navigating your story with the taro archetypes. In this episode, roots and I will be discussing the higher offend. And the archetype of the teacher. For any of you that are new to taro. The higher offense has the number five. And comes after that emperor. In the major Arcana. In our discussion roots and I share personal stories around wisdom. That we have learned from our spirit guides and spiritual teachers. Here on earth. Roots shares the guidance he was given. During his migraine attack. And I talk about some wisdom I learned. About beans. And its relationship to trauma in the body. We also touch upon how the higher thing can be triggering for some people because of its relationship to the Pope. I am included in that group. So, if that is the case for you, you're not alone. And we discuss what you do when a card is triggering you and how it mirrors something to you. I hope you find comfort in our personal stories of experiencing the Hierophant archetype. So pour yourself a cup of tea. Or a glass of wine. As you join us. For our discussion. I think we should start off with the fact that you are under the weather this week. I was under the weather this week. So what was going on for you? First, I have to start off with the under the weather part, right? I literally was knocked down for like six days with the most intense migraine, how it started was I went to a drum circle. I had an amazing fun, playful time. And then the next day I had other people encourage me to go to places, but I just didn't. My body was like, I don't want to do that. Or maybe it was my mind saying that I didn't want to do it. I ended up going into an intense migraine state where all I could do was met. All I could do was be present to my body, to my migraine. As I did this practice actually started to see that side of my body, the spirit of my pain, and I was able to work with it. That ended up becoming a really cool experience of embodying the spiritual and merging of the worlds. How was yours, Nicole? You know, I just got a common cold. Up here in new England, the temperature drastically changes. It goes from really cold when the sun's not out. And then when the sun's out, it's like really warm and then the sun goes away and you're really cold again. I always find in these transition seasons, like fall and spring, you really gotta like dress appropriately. But dressing appropriately is really difficult when the temperature changes hourly. It keeps flip-flopping. So I was outside doing yard work and I was like, sweating. I was so hot because the sun was out. I was ready to get in a t-shirt and then all of a sudden, it was lunchtime. And I'm eating outside the sun goes away and the temperature just dropped. Because of the pandemic I've been so good at not getting really sick, which maybe, that's a good thing or a bad thing. I had to remember that every time in these transition seasons, I do catch a little bit of a cold. I tested for COVID cause I was like, oh, is this COVID? But it wasn't. Thankfully. So roots, you and I had discussed that the hero front has a few different angles. He embodies the teacher, he embodies tradition, and then he also embody, the rebellious, depending on if it's reversed. A hero fan is that guide for spiritual connection or integration. That's the big thing from this last week I can totally say I experienced from working with the hero. While I was sick, I drew cards and the hero was one of the cards that came out. That was a deck that I hadn't touched in like weeks or a month that I've been putting off touching or being with, you know, and that goes back to the high priestess energy of like, listen to your intuition kids. Do you want to share your story for this week of what that embodied awareness was? Oh, my gosh. Okay. So like I was sharing a little bit earlier. I had the crazy week and then I had five days of being in migraine. Within that time, I started to reflect on every aspect of my life that has gotten me to this. I literally basically just meditated for five days because everything else hurt. It got to this point, where my coach gave me this it's called a disappearing, the pain exercise, where you locate the pain, you recognize, what shape is it in? What color is it in? And then if it could fill a glass of water, how full is the cup? And then what's your scale of pain. You redo that exercise 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 times until it's a really low number. So I did it with her and I got to the point where I wasn't in pain anymore. And then once I wasn't in pain, she let me go off and I was just able to be fully into the meditation. Then I started to talk to one of the spirits that had shown up and I was like, what are you here to teach me? We ended up having a 30 minute conversation about any time that you say I am, or anytime that you say that you are going to do something, your putting that reverberation out into the universe. that was the embodied experience for me to see my life and have reflection on it in such a way that I knew that there was a need for change. The body does have this wisdom for us to understand. And it's something I don't think we always connect with. You can almost even say the body itself is a beautiful teacher and it sounds like for you, like the book, the body keeps the score. It sounds like your body was really saying like, Hey, there's a message for you here, roots. Like, there's something I'm trying to share with you. Do you think your body was trying to bring this message to you? Oh, absolutely. I think the migraine is from not following through with all the things that I say that I want to create. I've got eight different projects and I don't feel like I'm putting the amount of effort that I really want to for each one, because I'm turning all the different irons in the forge, but not really honoring each one, you know? Now I'm curious when the hero shows up in a reading for you, what are you going to share with yourself or with the quieren? Like we kind of mentioned everyone has a different relationship with. And the hero fin and I, we, we have a unique relationship, when roots and I did the hero fan last time. Cause this is our second round, everyone doing the major Arcana, but this time, this time we're recording, we did we, did they hear it the first time? My relationship with him was one of society's traditions, which I know sounds completely out there, but I'll explain why. And then when reversed, it was really an archetype of rebellion, but not rebellion like fighting society's traditions. It was more of when you flipped it in reverse. For me, it was more listening to what felt right for you and walking your own path. And the reason I bring this up is I was raised. Catholic. I went to CCD when I was young we had to go to confession. My parents weren't strict Catholics, but it was, it was part of my upbringing is the Catholic and the Pope and the priest. I felt like I had to speak to God or the goddess. I had to go through someone to then speak to them. And I really couldn't connect to them on my own. At least that was the teachings that were taught to me when I was growing up in my CCD staff. So when I first embodied this hero fan and I first started relationship with him, I really saw my wounds. And it's interesting because as you heal in this lifetime, your relationship with the cars are going to change. About seven years ago, when I started working with terror, that was the moon that was there. It was the, recovering Catholic wound. That was my experience. Other people who are Catholic. I mean, if that resonates with you, it is beautiful and keep going with it. But for me, there was a lot of fear and a lot of, power In the past year, when I was working with these cards, The hero fin started showing up. I have a counselor that I work with. we have created a really beautiful relationship. And so it's interesting. I would ask a question and pull a card in here if it would come up. And I was like, wait a minute, they're telling me to follow society's traditions. I'm like what? Or rebelling? Insertions. I was so confused. And then I would go have my counseling session and I was like, wait a second. It's showing up as, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. There has been a lot of wisdom that has been coming to me from these outside sources. So the Hierophant went from, Catholic wound to then, still rebellion, and following your own path and going against the traditions and doing what's right for you. And then it evolved to this beautiful teacher to listen to this wisdom. They'll show me the card to just kind of go pay attention here. Someone's about to share something with you that we want you to hear. Back to what you and I said roots at the beginning, the archetype of the teacher, which our body is our guides, you know, like our body has wisdom. Some people connect with trees. Like they go out and the tree share with them. Roots, you were sharing with me, I'm going to pause for a minute. Cause you remember, you told me there was a Hierophant card where you said it had like a rabbi, a priest, high priestess woman. Yeah. Yeah. He's got all the major religions were kind of centered around a beam of golden light, right. Because all the different religions are fundamentally, not flawed they're they all have their own truth and they're all, ultimately encouraging people to go towards the golden light. That was my favorite interpretation of the hero card. I can't remember what deck that's from. Um, maybe it was Osho. I was right. Okay. So it's from the legacy of divine taro. It's serum, Garcetti, chatty. I thought it was him. The first real interpretation that I had of the hero and it created a, an equalized field of just weird all after just making a difference on this. Really and just evolving and getting closer and closer to that golden light. Yeah. That's everything that everybody's really wanting anyway, and it is, from the legacy of the divine taro, by Sierra machete, I think it was like a decade and I had that deck. Oh, that's so cool. I'm like a decade in Jesus and like two decades now. Oh, wow. So then we were starting at 13. Is that what you do? I started it. I started at 13. Yeah. I've been reading pretty much consistently sends them with a few moments here and there that I wasn't, because my partners at the time said you shouldn't do that. It's witchcraft and oh my God. It's funny, as one of them ended up actually dating like, uh, a level of which that was well beyond me, like later on. Really? Yeah, yeah. So can I tell you the little wisdom that came to me this week that I got really excited about? Everyone in the audience, there's this thing that happens when roots and I have a card that we're doing, we tend to experience the card. And so if we're doing a happy card. Like the sun card reads and I had a really good week that week, it was full of joy and happiness. It was a good time. So I did have a Hierophant moment. This. The Hierophant has been showing up as a teacher, to me, someone sharing their wisdom. I experienced anxiety. I've talked about it before. I've done a lot of research on this, a lot of alternative research on it, and a little scientific only from listening to scientific podcasts, because I don't really understand too much like reading on my own science. But the two are connected, the science and the alternative. They're really connecting on this when someone experiences childhood trauma or just trauma in general. The way that trauma shows up in our bodies is inflammation. And so I got to tell you, I go to the dentist, they're always like, you know, my gums gums really are great, area to see if you're inflamed and they're always like, oh, are you flossing? And I'm like, I swear, I'm flossing, but they're just inflamed. I went to an ear nose, throat specialist a while ago. And inside there's always inflamed. I have allergies. I don't have to get into it. So, I came across this podcast and it was called holistic navigation. His name's the wheeze. I don't really know what his last name is. But he's a sematic therapist. He's all about trauma and how trauma is held in the body. And he had a guest speaker come on, who's a biologist. So she said, you have food works in our body and it can heal, heal our body. And she talked about trauma. So when you have a body that has experienced trauma and inflammation is showing up, the thing that's happening that I heard in this podcast is your adrenaline is over-producing. And that hormone cortisol you're producing high levels of it. And that's very common for people. Who've experienced trauma and There's big trauma and there's just little trauma and all of it can cause an overproduction of adrenaline and chorus. To keep your poor body safe. Cause it's ready for the fight. It's ready for the flight. It's just always on its defense. So they said what really helps absorb that extra adrenaline and cortisol that really, if you don't absorb, it just keeps getting recycled in your body. Get a load of this beans, B E a N S beans. Her name's Karen heard, she has this beautiful story of what happened to her with her child and I won't get into it. But she discovered that soluble fiber, which is in beans, absorbs adrenaline and cortisol the things that really aren't good for us and it just moves it right out of our body. So she calls it the bean protocol and roots I've been having. From morning lunch and dinner. She says, have just a half a cup, just add it to all of them. And you'll notice your adrenaline and cortisol stress response will decrease. And your inflammation. I got to tell you roots. I've been feeling amazing and because I've been doing it now for like about a week. And so I just share that because when I was really excited about that and like kind of geeky nerdy way, but too, I needed this higher offense of this wisdom. Just share their knowledge with me this week. When I put it out to the universe for over like three years now, I've been putting out to the universe, help me, help me, help me. And then it delivered. And you it's interesting. Do you fall like numerology? Oh yeah, I know you do. You're putting into it. I have been seeing 9, 9, 9 so much for that. A few months now. And that to me symbolizes a completion of something. what I've been really on this journey of is trying to heal my body with this trauma and anxiety. And I don't know, I don't have the answer yet, but these beans, I gotta tell you, you know, it's funny, I'm thinking when, as soon as you said that was beans, beans, magical fruit, the more you eat, the more your tooth, the more your tooth, the happier your field. So let's see beans with every meal. Like, did you ever hear that? Was that just me? Oh, I didn't hear that. I didn't know all the words, but I did hear that. And you wonder, like, that's something that's been like passed down in generations and society, that little song. So there's something to beams. So everyone try it out. If you experience or have trauma, try to, I've never felt so in my body. Okay. Do you experience anxiety? I can't remember. I actually have finally started to not experience anxiety because I recognized that my anxiety was as a direct relation of my attachment to the past. And I was putting it into my future and my present. Once you take the past, out of the future, you are then free to play in the present, right? That's why my practice is the present moment alignment because only through there for being present with yourself, with your body, can you actually make any strides moving forward now, anxiety it's, you're pretending that, you know, every single thing that's ever going to happen and you're painting the worst possible picture. Well, what if we take down that canvas and we put up the canvas of the sun card, knowing that the sun energy is going to get to come out and it's going to play, and we're going to get to have a great, amazing, exciting day every day, and there's going to be some upsets. Cool. But if you're focused more on the things that are going right in your life, you start to notice more things going right in your life. If you're always caught up on the things that aren't going great. Well, you're just going to have more things that aren't going great. So it's just a matter for you to discover what life and reality do you want to create for you. And, you know, it's easy sometimes just to say that, but then when you hear somebody like me sharing, like there's a possibility of being free. And excited about life versus caught up in anxiety, depression. Like I was that person. I was in therapy for years. Then I went and I did a program called the landmark forum where I really started to be able to distinguish how I was holding or letting things that happened to me in the past and letting that control my next moves. And I want to let you know, Nicole, I just completed my seven month course that I was in. Um, I know, so thank you. It was a lovely trip in life. But through there I got to really be seen. I got to see other people, other people got to experience my listening and I got to experience others listening, you know, and then you get to be at the space where you recognize that fundamentally we're all here. And a lot of us are still pretty scared from stuff that happened to us before. And once you get to that point, you're not caught up in the upset. It's so much, it's like, what are you wanting to create versus getting caught up in anything else? And I love what you just said is that we're all human and we're all probably still holding onto those things that made us scared. Childhood teenage years, twenties, thirties, usually a lot of stuff happens from when we were a kid, you know, that time that dad didn't come out to see us play our favorite sports games. That time that, mom said that she didn't love us or said that our voice was horrible. And then we never sang again. Right. Those things can sometimes completely damage another person without us ever recognizing our impact or they're in. They don't even recognize it because they're in their own upset from, you know, their own generational trauma that they're not healed from yet. You know? So it's like, can't fault them. We can only heal ourselves. So we don't then pass it on to our children or our community's children. It's being that change in the genetic line or like the ancestral line. Yeah. And only you can be that change for yourself in the world around you. You mentioned how you're not in the present when you're with anxiety and I've always said we time-travel, like, I know, like we don't actually time-travel. You're in a machine and go places. But when you're experiencing anxiety, you absolutely go straight to the past and then you absolutely. You go straight to the future, but the one place or not, is this in the present? If you're wanting to go talk to that person for whatever reason, go up and say, hi, what's the worst thing they're going to say? No. Okay, cool. Go find somebody else that inspires you. Simple as that. It's funny how everything connects, and the synchronicities. I had a really good meditation this week for my guides around trauma and anxiety. And it really connects to what you were just talking about, about being in the past and bringing the past to the present and the future. Do you mind if I just share what they told me? Cause it was like really cool. And I was like, wow, this is really good with them. Sure. I have some trauma in my past and, I was meditating because I notice that I bring it sometimes to my present. And then I do the spiral loop to the future and I was amazing. And I asked my guides, I'm like, what is going on here? Like, why is this happening? Back to it, like there's big trauma and little trauma and little trauma, you know, it's different for everyone. Something that didn't give someone trauma is going to give another person trauma. It's just, that's how it is. And they were saying how. When I got the trauma, I still replay in the present because I'm not ready to let go of it. Cause I'm not quite ready yet to forgive the people who caused it to me. And this is so subconscious, like this isn't quite conscious, but then a little bit turned conscious because I was like, oh crap. Yeah. I'm maybe I'm aware of this now. But they were sharing with me that when I bring this past fears with me and I'm bringing them into the present moment, I'm really living my trauma out. And the only way to release this trauma, to walk away from it is to finally be ready to move on from the person that caused them to trauma. when they're ready to let go, they release this grip. They have on the person that caused them to trauma. And by us holding onto it and playing this victim role, which I do play sometimes with my trauma to myself, I'm subconsciously trying to go, well, look at this. I'm anxious and this is all your fault, even though they could care less. But me holding on to it, not being able to release it. I keep retraumatizing myself and I'm doing it because there's a part of me that just still wants that person to know what they did. And they said the only way to remove that is to let go of the past. And they were like you're different person than you are. Then you have your own personal power than you had then like you are in such a different place where you can. Make different choices, you are free to make your own choices. And when you start owning that and you go, okay, these are the cards that I'm currently dealt with and how do I want to use those cards? And that is when they said you're releasing the past. You're present in the present moment. And therefore you're not going to keep replaying up this trauma. Does that make sense? I didn't realize how much I was bringing the past into my present and they told me this is interesting. My guides told me, do you want to know what someone's been traumatized? That's the one place that they feel unworthy of. So for me, I've talked about it before. In another episode, my health I've always seen myself as unworthy of, good health and you can link that back to some trauma I've had. I have a friend who feels really unworthy of a loving relationship. You can go back and link it to her trauma with her parents and the divorce and all that stuff. So if you want to know, someone's, trauma, which in this lifetime, I don't think anyone's going to have a clean paper. We're all going to have this experience of trauma. You know, that's just part of life, but you always know what your thing is when you can see the part of you that feels unworthy. And that's the part you need to heal because that's your little trauma. Yeah., that's literally what. It's getting clear that when you're now present, you're not bound up by the thing that happened to you in the past. I know we spoke about how the Hierophant is triggering for some people. Because some people see the Hierophant as the Pope. I mean, I guess that that's, again, one of those, like everybody's got their background for how things are related to them. Right. And so of course, like a religious figure, like especially if they came from a Catholic background and they're like, the Catholicism is all crazy, right? I could totally see how they would not want that as part of their experience, but, you know, that's why I had the card deck that I had earlier up because I really enjoy how it's like all the major world religions are up there and, and powerfully expressing and sharing themselves, you know? What advice would you give someone if they do get to a card that is triggering for them? Was I know that there are parts that are, yeah. I mean last year the emperor was really rough for you. Then this year, the emperor was really amazing for you. Yeah. All about control and get some shit done. Right. It's all a matter of where you're at in your path. Like sometimes we're blocked by stuff because that's where there's growth. I literally have been resistant to working with this one deck for like weeks, months, whatever, and yeah, no, seriously, I got it back in October. I think I've read from it twice. Okay. Um, it's my go Aisha deck, and I've been purposely not working with it. Well, when I had my migraine nap, that's the deck that implored me to pick it up because I couldn't even reach any of my other decks. Wow. Cause the migraine was so intense. I didn't want to move. And like it it's funny. Cause even like, as I'm laying here, like it's still out of its box right next to me. That's something I never do. And. But it wants to be near me right now. And I don't want it to not be near me. It wasn't that I was off put by it. It's that? Oh shit. I'm about to learn something. What is here for me to learn. And that's usually what we find when we are having a resistance to a card. It's like that, oh shit. Where am I going to learn? How am I going to love Lyft today? You could even take that into when you have resistance with people. Uh, yeah. It's mirroring something to you and it goes back to what is it I'm going to learn in. Yeah, I think, T carts I was the most triggered with, for my background were definitely the emperor. And then the Hierophant is triggering for me too. And yeah, it had a lot to teach me male authority figures. Yeah. I don't imagine that. I have a little bit of trauma from patriarchy's. Okay. Wow. You just, yeah. I knew that too, using debt. And if a car triggers you or if a deck triggers you, it really shows something that's going on for you. And it's not a bad thing. It just is showing you your story and back to this whole room, which is your story. When we were kids or when nowadays too, I pick up a story. It's not this happy go-lucky story where, the character decides to go on a journey. And then the character right away, all is in love right away, gets the career they wanted right away, gets the house. They wanted lives forever. And you know, that's not, that's not the story. The story comes from, heartbreak, challenges and, oppression or struggles. And then we get on that horse again and we learn and then we discover us. These cards really do. If you have a difficult relationship with one, it's just mirroring your story and you just got to listen to it. For anybody who's new to even working with cards. Sometimes you'll hear a snarky. Congratulations. You've been snarky to yourself. That's one of the biggest things. People like, oh my God, this deck is such a snarky bitch. And I'm like, okay. Yeah, you want to say something about who you've been to yourself? Do you beat yourself up a lot? Huh? Never would have guessed that. They're like, how did you know? I'm like, cause that's just what you said. The deck says the deck has been a mirror of your soul People who come to me for reading, they're like, how do you know all this stuff? It's just repeating back everything you already know about yourself. That's it. I'm not telling you anything new. I mean, I will give coaching from there because that's also what I do, but that's because that's what I do, Tara. Otherwise puts your reality, very flat on the. And that's why I love it because it works better than any therapy that I've ever really done. You could pull a card and not even know really the meaning of the card, but there's something about that illustration on the card that you're like, oh, this is mirroring something that I'm already aware of. Yeah. It just mirrors it right back to you. You, you learned some higher fun lessons this week from the migraine, your body was speaking to your guides were speaking to you. What is your next step with that guidance. I'm listening to my body, more listening to my intuition. Oh, my last lesson that I really wanted to offer. Um, okay. So I know I've shared it before, but it bears repeating because it got a little level of. And it's by 3, 6, 9 method method. Yeah, you can do it again. Okay. Let's hear about it. You have your three seconds to identify the intuition, the desire to do something. You have the six seconds to recognize, oh, Hey, I don't really want to do that. I don't want to, I'm not good enough. Or I sh I'm, I'm comfortable, you know, whatever's your whatever. But then in the ninth, second, you start to really be able to be like, well, what do you stand for? So for me, working on my projects has been a big thing that I keep saying, well, I don't want to do that because it's just going to take so much time. Okay. Um, I just tore out a whole kitchen cabinet in 30 minutes. So I know I can do anything else than any amount of time. The last part of it is recognizing what is your stance? Are you a stand for your projects being done? And then if, so you have that option of that three breath, right? And the three breath is you count down from three to one and then you just go after whatever it is that you're after. If you say, I'm going to go clean for five, 10 minutes, just get up and go clean for five, 10 minutes. It's only until this week when I added the three breaths, did I really make a noticeable change? Because in the ability to breathe, you're inviting, God force energy. To really clear your thoughts of anything that is not serving your highest alignment and encouraging you now to go forth after whatever it is you're after to create. And it just made everything so much easier this week. And this was again, after I had the headache and after I had migraine and after I sat with the feminine spirit and you know, it was like this morning, even when she was like, you know, you could just go ahead and start cleaning. And I did, and then I got winded and then I cleaned and then I got winded and I just kept coming back and resting and then it'd be like, okay, time to get back up. You know, like right now it's telling me, okay, it's time to go lay down because my head hurts. Oh, one of the 3, 6, 9 method really is a great way to like, just get that instant clarity. It sounds like it just simplifies things. When you mentioned it before. Yeah, well, cause it's like three seconds to recognize the intuition. And many times we were not even present to it's an intuition at all. And we were just automatically dismissing it. Next time we do this room. We will be with the lovers card, which is all about choices and love and harmony. And for you roots. Oh my God. So much more. Oh, my God. I mean, what's crazy is that I'm actually starting to talk to somebody who's like wanting to be my lover. So I'm going to be really discovering what levers means this week. Like, whoa. Um, yeah, like he might actually be in the area, like living near me soon. So yeah. Like, oh my God. Literally the last time we did the levers cars, you actually had someone come in the room and there was like a little like romantic moment You asked him when you guys are going to hang out. Oh, Samson. Yeah. Yeah. There was like a little like connection. In the long run. So if you want some love coming to this lover's room, oh my God. It, and it is like that mirror reflection for yourself. Right. So everybody just be present to, what are you passionate for yourself this next two weeks? What are you really excited about and what are you wanting to call in? But it's also like, what are you embodying for yourself? Because as you fully embody what you're about, that's how the lover really shows up for you. Oh my God. Totally. Yeah. My favorite tip that someone gave me that I never really believed until I finally went about love in a healthy way. Was that if you take care of you, a partner compliments, your.
