Going Within- The Hermit
In this episode, Rootz and Nicole discuss the Hermit and the archetype of going within. We share the importance of going within to connect to our inner knowing and wisdom to gain clarity on our life's path. We also cover how the Hermit's energy is very introverted and how some people feel at home in his presence while others might be terrified of him because they are trying to distract themselves from his truth. It also happens to have been a new moon on the night we recorded, which is the perfect environment for this discussion.
Book Suggestion:
Mirrors In The Earth by Asia Suler
Hi, and welcome back to navigating your story with the taro archetypes. In this episode roots and I discuss the hermit. And the archetype of going within. For any new to taro. The hermit is the ninth card. And comes after strength. And the major Arcana. Roots and I discussed the importance. Of going within to connect to our inner knowing. And wisdom. To gain clarity on our life's path. We also cover how the hermits energy. It's very introverted. And how some people feel at home in his presence. Well, others might be terrified of him. Because they are trying to distract themselves. From the truth. It also happens. To have been a new moon on the night we recorded. Which is the perfect environment for this discussion. I hope you find comfort. In our personal stories. Of experiencing the hermits archetype. So pour yourself a cup of tea. Or a glass of wine. As you join us. Us. For our discussion. Tonight definitely has some hermit energy to it, which we can talk about. it is the New Moon. Well, new moons are typically a time to go inside to plant the seeds. It's the dark phase of the moon. It's just hidden by the earth, and it's mathematically perfect. It's fascinating and mind boggling that people don't think that we have an orchestrated universe, that things are not divinely created in my experience because how else would we have a new moon. So what we're thinking about is then seeds to seed consciousness into this next period of our existence. So if we're thinking about how do we want to be creative, or how do we want to be more playful, well then we literally have to just explore that. What does it look like to be creative or playful or fun in our life? For me, I recognize that I was playing into the energies of worry, doubts, fears, insecurity. And you know, because those were present in my mind, we then get to be like, Oh, are those the seeds or the plants that I still wanna keep working within? Or am I ready to plant new seeds? And so at the end of the night, after the whole hermit energy, I really wanna encourage us to plant those seeds. Mm-hmm. It'll be a little bit of a ritual. It'll be fun as a collective, we get to seed what we're wanting to create next. That's what a new moon is the time for, planting the seeds for the next reality. Yes. So that's how I perceive it. When I looked at my astrology for real life by Teresa Reed, she's the taro lady. If anyone ever follows her, she's really awesome. I read about the actual definition of the new moon, it is all about planting seeds. I think that is very universal, because the full moon is when we harvest. To plant seeds, which is where we'll get into with this Herman energy, is we have to do a lot of reflecting. We have to do a lot of inner work to get clarity on what it is we really want, and to hear the wisdom and guidance of where we need to go. The New Moon, if it was. Represented in a season, it would be the winter season. And for anyone that lives in an area that does have seasons and you experience the actual winter season, it is a time of being in your home. it gets dark out really early, especially here in Massachusetts. I mean, by winter solstice, it's like dark by like 4:00 PM where I am. So it's a time to be inside. It's a time to reflect and it's a time to get really clear on those seeds, the seeds that you wanna plant and the intentions that you are looking to grow. Let's just set the scene that tonight we're all gathering here. We're in the hermit's energy. It's dark. It's cozy, it's very solitude, it's quiet. Maybe we have a candle lit. We are under the stars, and we are taking this time to just go within and get clarity on what we need on our souls journey and our souls path. And that is with the new moon, the hermit, and the season of winter is all about. Okay, so let's begin talking about hermit energy. So I'm gonna start off by asking you a question roots. How do you do with this type of energy ha. Okay, so do you want how I typically read it or do you want how I've been navigating it recently? Why don't we start with you navigating it recently, cuz you know we are in the present moment. Present moment alignment. Here we go. Yeah. So, interestingly, traditionally, the hermit is about going inside and retreating. Well, since I've spent the last year and a half being an introvert, hiding away and doing the inner work, this period has actually catapulted me on the journey of exploring the world. Finding my light, finding how I am with people, how people are with me, recognizing within myself, what works and what doesn't work and for me, the hermit's always taking time to yourself to find yourself. The biggest part about the hermit energy is you really are gaining clarity. You're going within and you're understanding you your path and what you want. And when we get to a point, when we need to hermit, it's because I think we're in a place where we're a little confused. We're a little lost. Where things aren't going the way we had planned. And that's when the hermit is calling us in. And it's going, Come with me, come with me. You need some alone time. You need to listen to yourself again. You need to, calm all the voices, other people's voices and start hearing what's right for you. Why do you feel last year, you were trying to gain clarity when you spent a whole year hermiting? It is very vital that we reflect that the five years beforehand I was going from festival to festival, so I spent five years of going and traveling and being with everyone constantly and recognizing all of my anxieties. And now from this last festival, I was able to be with people without any anxiety. Mind you, that was the past me. For those of y'all who also have been following me, I'm a year sober of smoking, drinking, and choking and all things psychedelic. Very different than who I was on those five years of traveling. It sounds like you got clarity on how your true, authentic self amongst an environment that's very extroverted, like a festival. Mm-hmm That's awesome. And then you put it into practice this summer. That is a huge piece of the hermit because sometimes when we're in the hermit phase and well, we're gonna cover a few different angles of this hermit cuz there's a few different personality types where hermit might be really comfortable and cozy. And then for some personality types, hermit is really scary for them. But we'll get to the scary piece after. If you're that personality type where the hermit is quite scary for you, we will definitely cover that. But for the personality types we're entering the hermits, I wanna say like cozy nest, is quite comforting. It feels like home. It feels right, it feels familiar and I think for us introverts we can easily stay there. I think roots, that's why I've stayed in this for like three weeks because it's so comfortable for me to be in the hermit. For some people we can stay there and never really venture out. I could befriend the hermit, if anyone looks at the illustration on writer wait Smith, deck the hermit, that illustration, I could like walk up to him and be like, Hey, let's be friends. Let's just sit here in silence and hold your little lantern. Which I wanted to just point out the reason the hermit in the illustration, it's all dark, but it's holding the lantern is cuz we really are going with it to find that light, that inner light. Like the new moon, it's dark, but there's just that sliver of light guiding us along and it's the light within us. But yeah, I could be his friend. We wouldn't really have to talk and I'd feel really comfortable. This summer I've been doing this practice every day. I live in the woods and have trees surrounding me and just being outside under a tree in the shade meditating and the wind is like blowing on me, something feels like my soul feels at home with this. And I had this experience where this feels so familiar to me. Like, I've done this before. Like my soul's done this before, outside and connecting. A lot of hermiting takes place for me, Yes, in my home, but it also takes place for me out in nature. Nature. Can be quiet for you, it can allow that silence for you. When I go walk in the woods, I love it because all of a sudden it's just quiet. Do you know what I mean? Walking my street you hear the cars going by, you hear different things of human noise, the airplanes and all that stuff, mm-hmm. It's a real thing. And I think sometimes nature can hold that sacred space for us to go within and hear that silence of our thoughts. If you ever had to take someone along with you to accompany you as you hermit, nature's a really good friend to take because it is quiet and it allows you to finally hear your thoughts. So I've been doing that this summer. Let's talk about this for a moment. Summer's a very extroverted season. We have longer days, the sun is out. It gets dark here around like nine o'clock. And if you follow the wheel of the year, it's coming up to the time of the harvest, crops are in full bloom, which really, if we align with nature, we're in full bloom. And so in an extroverted season, how do you handle that balance of incorporating the hermit? Cuz it can be overwhelming because you feel out of line with your internal rhythm. And then for people who are extroverts, you are so extroverted and you're in an extroverted season that like you are totally off balance. There is no pausing or reflecting time, right? Yes. There is the lesson that I actually just got from fireflies, which has literally transformed my whole life. Okay. There is the energy of when you're ready to rest. Rest when you're ready to relax, do it When you're ready to go off and play. Do it when you feel inspired to go work, do it when you need to. Rest. Rest. And just go back and forth. Because like the fireflies, they're not lit all the time. They take a moment to turn their light off and then they go back when they're ready to turn back on. You know, I don't understand bug anatomy, but the way it was given to me was, it's okay to go on and okay to go off, but it's important that you are honoring yourself, honoring your body. Mm-hmm. as another example, there was a moment where, I was doing household chores and my inspiration for doing it lasted so long, and then I stopped, I rested, I went back to it. It's that chop wood carry water, chop wood carry water, but sometimes you still have to break in between each thing versus if you try railroad yourself and constantly push yourself towards doing something that doesn't work, Cuz you're pushing yourself past your comfort, past the limit. Yeah. And so allowing yourself to rest actually helps. Yeah. When you do push yourself, we head towards burnout. Mm-hmm. burnout. You would never think that, but burnout is a real thing in the summer because we are go, go, go. We're following the sun, we're following those vibes of being out. Your advice is really great. And I love the connections of fireflies. How do we follow our rhythm when the world is on a different rhythm? You follow your rhythm, period. Do you ever find that it's not as easy? Absolutely. Yeah, because that system was literally designed to be mass producing factory workers. It's not producing whole healthy human beings. Look at most other countries in the world except for the United States, they have a siesta or a nap time in the middle of the day. I know. I was actually just thinking about that. Spain, was my next example. Everyone wants to move to Spain. Well, it's not just Spain that does it. There a lot of other places that do it, and it's when we recognize that at the very least, having that two hour break in the middle of the day actually increases productivity. It's a no brainer. It literally is a no brainer. You go back even further, we would wake up really early in the morning, go to work at the fields before it was hot. Go have breakfast like four hours after you've been awake, and then go back out into the fields, work again for a little bit before it's too hot. Take a nap at the hottest part of the day. Maybe do some other hobbies or activities that need to be done that are able to be done in the shade. And then if you need to harvest more at night, you could, the timing was more in tune with nature? Most of us spend a lot of our times inside in a seed room, so our body is stiff sitting at a chair or desk. I worked for a lawyer for five years and then otherwise I was a student for almost two decades. If we looked at countries, I'd be like, Yeah, America extroverted. Totally. that can be really tough because we have, the society as a whole operating on this go, go, go, go, go, pace. And even aside from the job, my teens and my twenties was a very extroverted time. And for any introverts in here who were in their twenties, and you're an introvert. And you feel like it's an extroverted scene, I feel you. When I reached my thirties, I finally felt like I fit the age like who I was, fit my age, and my lifestyle and everything. I'm only speaking for me cause I know it could be different for everyone, but I remember having a really hard time with that. I get it, the job was also extroverted, but my group of friends, the way we were like hanging out all the time, always going from this place or this place, and it really was expected of me. Now I know I can look back and say like, Okay, well maybe I should have changed my friends. But I really liked my friends and I'm still friends with them now. If anything, they've slowed down and have caught up to me now cuz the thirties are more quiet than the twenties. I think sometimes when you are naturally drawn to the Herman energy, I think it can be tough when, you know people that you love are extroverted and have that fast paced mentality. Some tips I have goes back to In order to honor your rhythm. If the rhythm outside of you is a mismatch, say the season or the people you're surrounding yourself with or your job. It takes having that self love and self confidence to be able to say no and create your own pace. Every room we do roots, every card we've done it comes back to having enough self love Oh, imagine that. A device that's literally encouraging us to live our best life is going to encourage us to have self love and literally every card. And then it's just like different facets of what self-love looks like, right? It can look like having healthy boundaries about saying, Yeah, this is where I'm at. I boundaries, This is what I can handle. Boundaries is self-loving. You know, a lot of these cards, the answers is boundaries. You know, something that did help me and I'm gonna own it. I mean, I did fake it till I made it a little bit when I was in my twenties, and I'm not gonna recommend people do that. But it did help me. I know it's not the super gu guru answer. But really, truly, if you are gonna follow, like owning your truth and owning your authentic self, and if you can do that in your twenties, I mean, roots. I gotta ask you. I felt like the end of my twenties, I finally found myself. And you know what, I say that lightly because I know as I age, I'm always gonna be learning more and more about me. We're always evolving. But in your teen years where you're trying to discover who you are, and then your young twenties, you think you know who you are, but you really don't. Then in your late twenties and your thirties, you get to a place where you just can't be anyone else but yourself because you don't have as much energy. Fake it. So we make it to be someone else. So, Well, I think to go along with that, yeah. We literally have been cut off. We don't have all the people telling us who we're supposed to be, how we're supposed to be as we get further into our thirties. Following the traditional system, I mean five through 18, they were being at school and, I think that system's awful. I will just state that very clearly. But then it goes into college and they get some ability to choose, but then they're so, like, you've gotta figure out what career you want right now, but they just spent 13 years otherwise being told that they didn't get to make a choice about their life. And then as they're aging out of that, I mean, I stopped going to school. I think I was like 25 because I just was like, Why, why am I doing this Yeah. in astrology we see in return, at the age of 29 however Saturn shows up is where you're supposed to be. And mine happens to be in Sagittarius. So your goals, your dreams, your aspirations, what lights you up, what are you passionate towards. Mm-hmm. And I'm really awful about setting longitudinal goals, which is all Sagittarius energy. So Sagittarius in my Saturn, Saturn's gonna be a hard teacher for you, on setting the long term goals. Yeah. We do reach our Saturn return and. We do get to that age where we are the ones guiding ourselves. And so we naturally are starting to fall into our own rhythm because we are our leaders and our own guides. The only compass we have is with inside of us. So I have another discussion that I would like to talk about. I have a friend who's, an extreme extrovert, and I can relate a little bit cuz there has been moments in my life, even though the hermit is so comfortable for me, like I love the hermit energy. I have had moments in my life where I run from the hermit. I know I said that I'd be his friend. and totally I would most of my life. But I have had moments where I have run from him and I have a friend who's an extrovert, but it's not even that she's an extrovert, it's she's so afraid of the truth that she will discover if she quiets herself and goes within. So she distracts all the time. And when I ran away from the hermit when I was in a period of my life where the hermit was really scary for me and I didn't want to go there, it was because I was afraid of the truth. And I wanted to keep distracting myself with extroverted things, material things. Like, Ooh, I'm gonna go do that. I'm gonna go do that, and you wanna hang out and it's 11 at night. Great. Like, I'm gonna come on over because I don't want to be alone. I wanna distract myself. So let's talk about that. Why does that happen for us when we are so afraid to go within? Why is the hermit sometimes very scary? Hmm, hmm. So we're present now to this moment where we recognize that often there is that egoic part of ourselves that wants us to keep ourselves distracted, to keep going and doing the things that supposedly will help generate dopamine or, serotonin. And instead we have this tendency to be avoiding of ourselves. And so in short, it's the avoiding of ourselves, when we know that there's something good to. Then we avoid doing it and trying to find something that else, that's gonna provide, an instant gratification almost, versus the taking the time to really be able to be with and process things of the day. Some practices and we love that you're doing the journaling, in the forest for a little bit after and while you're meditating. That is an amazing self care, beautiful practice. That likely is only possible right now cuz you're not working But I do hope that you're able to carry that through and find some other ways to incorporate that type of practice. Just to write a few down or list a few out. Right now it's like there's. There's a thing called the Morning Pages by the Artist's Way and Julia Cameron, where she talks about writing three pages every single day to become present to that inner critic, that inner voice, that doubtful Tom. The person who's gonna say, You're not good enough. Who are you to make a difference in the world? And I always like to flip that script and say, Who am I not to make a difference in that world? Who am I not to make that impact with that person? Mm-hmm. there's meditation, there's self care of even yoga. I find so much inspiration just within doing yoga of like exploring my body, exploring how strong I am, how capable my body is, and then even when it doesn't feel very strong or I'm sore in a particular spot, able to be loving with it and knowing that, okay, it's sore today, but it might not be tomorrow. and me loving on it today actually gives it the strength to be knowing that there's something going on in my body that needs to be paid attention to. Like if I have arick in my neck was like, was I staring at my phone too long? Was I on the computer too long? You know? Mm-hmm. and just being able to address our body again in a healthy way. Yes. Okay. You mentioned so many things that I want to talk about Okay. Uh, I need to take a moment. I'm just gonna write a note for a minute cuz there were two things that I wanted to talk about. So I'm just typing on my phone. Okay. One was the instant Gratification. Gratification and then the other one, coming back to our bodies. Mm-hmm. instant gratification, the dopamine, the serotonin. Wow. Did you channel that? Did that just come to you or was that just something you knew Yes, if you noticed it was a totally different voice. It was. So whoever you were channeling, thank you for that because I'm always learning in these podcasts when I have conversations. And yes, the hermit is slower pace. And to get your answers, they're going to take a while. It's not the instant gratification. It's not the instant fix. It's not the instant knowledge. I even taught a class to my students on this. We are an instant gratification society. The social media we use and the games we play, they hire psychologists to design those because they know how to get the instant dopamine. The reals, the ticks, those are all instant gratification hits. And really, it keeps us on this like, hi. And it's not healthy, obviously, we all know that to stay on that level because it's not a normal human pace. And so I think when the hermit shows up, I'm gonna go out on the limb. This is honestly just theory because we have become a society that does use all this type of technology and we become so instant gratified. Hermit can be really hard for us to explore. Before the industrial revolution we had more farming jobs and we had more jobs that really aligned with the rhythm of the seasons. I wonder if the hermit wasn't as scary then. I mean, I'm short and I'm generalizing. I'm sure it was for some people Absolutely. But maybe not as many. So absolutely. That could be why the herm. it is very scary because we're just so trained and so used to the fast paced, the fast paced, which doesn't really give you a solid foundation. We all know this, I mean, it's totally been a pattern in life. You know the story of the hair in the tortoise, the hair freaking burns himself out. He's in the lead, but he can't keep up that stamina and the tortoise ends up winning. And that is the reason we share that story. The reason that story's been passed down for generations is because there's truth to it. He's fables, they do speak truth and the hermit. If you can be brave enough to slow down, withdraw from the dopamine, instant gratification hits and slow down. And it really takes, to be honest, just a few days. Turn off your phone, put your phone on an airplane mode when you get home, put it in a basket and really give yourself two days to kind of withdraw from that hit. Cause I know that has happened to me has it ever happened to you? Where I'm not gonna go on my phone. I go to sit down on the couch and the first thing I do is literally reach for my phone and I'm like, What am I doing, Nicole? It's like I did it without even thinking and I was like, Whoa, I'm withdrawing from a habit. Yeah, actually up at the fireflies festival, because it was up in the mountains, right? It was like seven days of not having my phone. It was the most blissful experience that I have ever had. And like, I honestly didn't even wanna pick my phone back up. Except for then I wanted to get people's phone numbers and to connect with people and even like coming back, I've recognized how quickly I'm like, Oh my God, I gotta get back on my phone. Or Oh my God, I've gotta go message. Mm-hmm. And so when we take a moment to really, what is my intention for using my phone? What is the context in which I am picking my phone back up? Like, am I using it to do something productive or am I just using it to mindlessly scroll and get my dopamine? We're not programmed to have 500 plus people making an impact in our brains every day. Right. We are naturally programmed to maybe have like 10 people in our daily life consistently. We're at this digital age where we get to have these amazing experiences that make it so we don't want to do that inner work to really rediscover what is our purpose? So now the other piece that I'm so glad I took a note on, I wanted to discuss was coming back to your body. Mm-hmm. And here's my first thought on that. In life there's big traumas and there's little traumas, and I love that mental health has really started speaking about how we all experience these little traumas in our life. I think anyone who's had a childhood, you probably experience some little traumas. I'm reading a book, which I'm just gonna put out there if anyone's looking for connecting to hermit vibes. It's called Mirrors, of the Earth by Asia Sewer. Get It? And it's also on audible, beautiful hermit book, but she talks a lot about, trauma and she relates it to nature and it's really gorgeous the way she words it. Her way of explaining trauma is that it's subjective to a person. So when we experience trauma, I might have been knocked over by a wave and my sister got knocked over by the same wave. She's totally fine. But for me that might have been really traumatic. Trauma's so subjective and when I heard that, I was like, that's so right. You can't measure trauma. You can't use data to really define it. It is subjective to the person. The reason I share that is because sometimes the hermit can be really scary. Because it does represent coming back to our body, which roots shared in his channeling message, it is coming back to the physical body. And for some of us who have experienced trauma, and have not healed it, or have not tried to heal it yet. we are disassociating and we don't really wanna be in our body. And I know that that has happened to me at least where I'm like, Oh, I don't wanna be in my body right now. So like, you know how roots you and I to explained how like our higher chakras are always good. But our lower chakras always need extra love and care. The hermit is about going back to your body. It is about not disassociating, not, levitating above your body. It's really about coming back to it. And for people who have experienced trauma, that can be really hard because you might be afraid to be back in your body because whatever event it was, being a human, we do experience scary things that frighten us. If you're someone who has a lot of anxiety, That made me not really in my body as much. There is absolutely help out there. I've made wonderful strides of coming back to my body with counseling and I know roots you also have taken so many coaching, classes that have really helped you, where through some of your traumas. Right. So actually I would love to talk about that the one that I particularly worked with this last year is a program called The Landmark Forum. And in that it talks about our oncology, our way of our being, a way that's not making yourself wrong, not making anyone else wrong, but just being able to be with what's there. They're like, want to empower you to fix yourself and to fix your life. But we're not here to fix you. That's the biggest thing cuz you're already whole healthy, complete from your head to your feet and you're magna feet. At least that's the way that I work. I love that phrase because we are whole, we're just in the journey to coming back to ourselves. Mm-hmm. Okay. So I looked up the name. It's E M D R therapy, It's eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. And so, if anyone in here has trauma or ptsd, definitely Google that cuz I know some people where it has been. Amazing. In helping to desensitize the trauma that they've experienced. So you guys are leaving with a few resources, coaching and all that. If so, I just wanna share how I kind of came back to my body a little bit recently cuz I, I think since childhood, oh gosh, I don't even think I've been in my body for a really long time. It was always so comfortable for me not to be in my body. Being in my body was very uncomfortable. And what's really helped me come back to my body I shared a, did counseling, but I also, do, you know, muscle testing? Mm-hmm. and, Okay. A year ago my friend recommended that I go try this guy they do muscle testing and basically your aura can tell you information about what your body likes and what your body doesn't like with food and all that type of stuff, and how your organs are doing. It's like really cool. So if you're into reiki and you understand we have an aura, we have an energy field. This is just another way to have your body speak to you. So I had a session done and I was like, Oh my God, this is so adorable. My body was saying it did not like some things and it was really amazing to watch. And the practitioner would ask my body, Okay, do you like this? And my body would say yes or no with my arm and my muscle I remember leaving there and I was like, Oh my God, I never really saw my body as. This sounds so bizarre as like a living being Oh my gosh. I know. I mean, it's a living being, I'm breathing, but I never, like, you know, when you have like a dog sit next to you, a cute little puppy and you pet the puppy, and you're like, Oh, you're so cute., what do you need? Or a baby? What do you need? Do you want some hugs? I never took a moment to be like, body, what do you need right now? Oh, do you like this food? my brain's telling me like, this food, but like body, what do you like? How are you feeling, body? Mm. I always talk to my soul or I talk to my brain or my heart, but I never really talked to my body and that really sent me on this relationship with my body. That I really been working on. So if you are afraid to connect with your body, start asking it. Questions. Start doing self care, not just for your mind, but ask your body, what do you need right now? I start pausing and going. Okay. I know what my brain wants. I know what my heart wants. I know what my soul wants. Oh, body. How are you feeling? I never included her growing up. So what I'm present to is, the three brains, There's the physical brain or there's our mind brain. There's our heart brain, and then there's actually our stomach and our belly brain, and they say that there are just as many mental, neurons or the path, I don't know the proper word, I'll be completely transparent, but the way that our brain works, there is a similar structures within our heart and within our stomach It's a matter of like being able to listen to all three of these different minds cognitively, not just listening to our thoughts and thinking that that's our wholeness yeah. That's just one aspect of our frequency of our being. The easiest way to find our truest light is by connecting with our other aspects, muscle testing is an amazing way to do it. I've been taught a few different ways. some of it includes standing up, asking a question with your hands on your heart, and you might notice that you're starting to lean. You'll notice you might lean forward, for instance or you might lean backwards if you say, Show me a yes and show me a no. And then you can start to ask Do you like this food? There was a time period where I had no words, but I could be like, Would this be good for my body? And I would muscle test and it would be like, Yes. Or it'd be like, no. And then now I've gotten to the point because I asked it so many times, I've adopted a type of, um That talks to me about food. When I'm wandering through a grocery store, it'll just like leap over to things. And for many of y'all, you know, I'm a channeler and I listen to spirits and I have all kinds of different creatures running around with me. Yeah. This is my little snapdragon. Right. It gets super excited about berries and it loves grapes. Mm-hmm. It's really funny because it's very particular, but in its particularity I never hurt when I listen to it. Yeah. Right. But if I don't listen to it or I buy the thing that it says no to and still eat it, then my body hurts. It's a new way of listening. It might be a little woo woo for some people, but, you're literally in a terra room right now. You're in a terra room So welcome to the woo, woo woo. Yeah, no, that's amazing. So it's your food guy, like your food animal guide. Yeah. I love that. You said, it's listening in a different way. Right? This is a great way to summarize the room is when you enter the hermit. I can't believe you haven't talked about this yet. It's about listening, but not really your everyday listening. It's listening, to a different frequency. How would you describe that? What is hermit listening? Because I mean, it's almost like taking time to pause, get outta your normal everyday structure. Step out of the ordinary. You wanna practice aligning with the different frequency, going to the park, instead of focusing on the kids playing and hearing that focus on the other noise, you hear the sound of the brushing of the leaves against the wind, where the birds singing their song or how the grass moves when the wind and the sun is in a different location and the sound that makes or the fireflies, and the summer bugs, the heat bugs or the lightning bugs, that's changing your frequency of your listening. And when you are entering the hermit, it's not listening to that everyday noise we hear, which is, people and kids. it's listening to the other sounds cuz there's a bunch of sound all at once happening all the time. We choose what we wanna listen to and when we enter the hermit, it's choosing to listen to a sound that you haven't been paying attention to yet. And yeah. Do you wanna say something? Yeah, it's actually funny. My friend shared with me today that while she was sitting in the park in the morning, she loves listening to all the different sounds. And then when she recognizes that there's a sound that she really enjoys, focuses on it and it becomes even louder and more. And if we think about that in terms of the thoughts that are running through our head, I was just gonna go there with what you said, So keep going. We recognize the thoughts that are running through our head and like which ones are super loud, then we can bring our actual awareness and attention to those particular thoughts and just be like, Oh, it's interesting that you're here. What do you have to teach me? How can I work with this to develop it in a different way? Or what other thoughts are here versus just focusing on that one type of energy. We have so many thoughts every minute, every day, and we can choose which ones we wanna make louder. We can choose which ones we wanna silence and not give attention to. And um, really in that her hering meditation state, you can even silence them all and have that quiet one, that inner wisdom speak louder. You can choose that it takes some practice, that inner voice, that inner wisdom. Some people call it your soul. Some people call it your higher self. It is quite soft. Our ego's thoughts wanna be louder. For survival, but it's really the souls, the higher self thought that's gonna help us. So you can choose to silence the ego thoughts and, and make your souls thoughts, your inner wisdom a little more louder during the hermit time. Yeah. And that's the thing that we get to do is finding our light, finding what our purpose is. And this is a great segue, to coming back to setting our intentions for the new Moon. Let's take a couple deep breaths in, in through the nose, out through the mouth, in through the nose, out to the mouth, all the way out. Bottom pausing here just for a. Take a nice inhaling and exhale out thanking ourselves for showing up today. Visualize the hermit. It can be a masculine or feminine image, depending on what resonates with you, and he's just right in front of us, guiding the path, encouraging us, where are we wanting to go? What is your purpose or your intention that you're now setting forth for yourself? He. You can do anything you desire in the world. Where do you want to go? He knows that it can be a lofty choice, but know that no matter whatever it is you choose, if it's where your heart wants to go, the path is there. And so he encourages you to take your his lantern or her lantern and start walking down the path. You might notice some sensations happening within your heart chakra being like, This is where I want to go. This is where I want to go. And so I want you to breathe here. Feeling into your heart, recognizing the little light, what's shining for you, what is exciting for you? Mm. And now as you continue walking down the path in the darkness with this beautiful new Moon energy, you might start to notice some other images coming up. Perhaps these are people or characters that you're wanting to play with. Maybe it's a new location that you may want to visit, or even new activities and hobbies that. Just so exciting for you right now. Allow yourself to be a kid. Allow yourself the freedom to play and know that it is truly okay in whatever feels an alignment for you today. There is no wrong way except to live in dismay, so put the deep breath in. Allow yourself to truly feel joyful Laughing all the way. Oh, all the way to the full moon. Nice. That was really nice.
